Java XBMC Remote Control.

Quick Install Guide

Java Client for the Xbox Media Center HTTP API. It will operate on Linux, Unix, Mac and Windows machines, and is hopefully more stable and usable than the current XBMC web front end. Unfortunately the HTTP API isn't the most flexible, I wasn't able to do as much as I first invisaged, hopefully I will be able to extend on this initial version.

  • Download the Jar file here: XBMCRemote.jar
  • Make sure you have your XBMC Web Interface enabled. (This application was developed against XBMC CVS Nov 2006.)
  • Just run this file on the server from the command line using:
    java -jar XBMCRemote.jar <xbox-ip>

Screen Shots

Current Features

  • Allows for you to traverse the currently assigned playlist.
  • Adjust Volume
  • View XBMC intermittent screen dumps.

Nice to Haves - Features I will attempt to add

  • Add songs to Playlist.
  • Remove songs from Playlist (Well, this is done, but the API doesn't seem to work right)
  • Rearrange playlist (Doesn't seem to be an easy way to do this over the API. I will investigate)
  • Drag local files into playlist. Will upload files, or calculate Samba mapping for file
  • Video, Photo support.
